Who are you?

My name is Leanne, and I am a ERYT-500 with the Yoga Alliance and a Certified Yoga Therapist based in the South Surrey/White Rock area of B.C. Canada. Many years of living in Japan gave me an appreciation for the subtle beauty of nature and art that the Japanese call shibui...and this is where the name comes from.

What does Yoga mean to you?

Yoga for me is this subtleness and alignment with nature that allows you to be the best YOU. Yoga for me is more than asana: it is philosophy, meditation and deep engagement in daily life.

What can students expect from one of your classes?

My teaching style is very dynamic. I have studied in various styles, including Iyengar and Ashtanga, and was one of a handful of Canadian teachers certified in Anusara Yoga. Though I formally left Anusara in 2012, I still utilize many of the principles from that practice. I am also a student of Paul Muller Ortega and draw heavily on Tantric philosophy in my classes. My students will say I teach with generosity, sincerity, and a sense of humor. I will say I teach with love and a deep appreciation for my students and the gift of yoga.

What else should people know about you?

I specialize in yoga as physical therapy and work in one of the top physiotherapy clinics in Canada. I teach public classes, immersions, specialty workshops and teacher trainings. And I really, really love dark chocolate.....
